Setup Notifications so ProfitTrailer can send Trading Updates

Discord

1. In Discord, create your own server by clicking the + button in the server menu on the left. See our guide HERE!

2. Create a text channel by right clicking on your server icon and selecting “Create Channel”.

3. Create a discord bot. See our guide HERE!

4. Add the bot to your server

5. Configure the Discord settings in the application.properties file. The primary two are:

discord.bot_token_1 = your bot token (eg: H64Fgytwfh764.ig$749266502F23yvsEhhjJH )
discord.chat_1 = the channel name (eg: steves-pt-bot or bot-messages)

6. Configure the remaining Discord settings in application.properties.

Notes:

  1. depending on the roles and permissions on your server you need to ensure the bot has the appropriate privileges to pair in the channel.
  2. You will not receive any messages when in testmode.
  3. a password is required to use notifications.


Telegram

1. In Telegram, send a private message to @BotFather (NOT to be confused with TheBotFather ​channel)

  • Once there type “/​newbot” ​to create a bot. Answer the questions ​by typing answers and pressing enter.
  • You will receive a message ​containing your bot token.

2. Start a chat with your bot's name (for example ​@MyTPBot) and press start button ​

3. Start another ​chat with https://t.me/MyTelegramID_bot.

4. Configure the Telegram settings in the application.properties file. The primary two are:

telegram.bot_token_1 = your bot token (eg: 125634789:AdGsJXvOnWxasdtasrfanmvlQQfb-a2g)
telegram.chat_1 = your chat ID (eg: 1234567890 or -1234567890 for groups)

5. Go to http://localhost:8081/settings/telegramTestMessage to test your telegram setup. You will receive a message ​if the setup is correct.

6. Configure the remaining Telegram settings in application.properties.

NOTES:

  1. a password is required to use notifications.
  2. You will not receive any messages when in testmode.
  3. For group chats invite https://​telegram.me/​myidbot to the existing group and type /getgroupid@myidbot (include the '-' symbol when adding it to your application.properties file
  4. Remember to click “Start” at the bottom of the page when you start a new chat.
